Not Gonna Open My Eyes

leave a comment »

Yeah, I knew you are making photographs of me and you want me to open my eyes, but I’m in the middle of a nap in the afternoon sunlight and that’s more important than any photograph you want to make. Come back in a couple of hours and maybe I’ll be awake.

Just ‘nother Cat Photo

leave a comment »

If you are an animal lover, you can’t get enough photographs of them, particularly when they are your own pets. So it is with our cat Suki. Here she is doing what she does every afternoon. It was an unusual day in that we had afternoon sunlight rather than the usual day of winter gray. She found the corner of the bed where the sunlight streams through. I never could get her to open her eyes. Typical cat, I suppose.

In a Square Spotlight

leave a comment »

Suki seems to have figured which way the sun moves and comes in our bedroom windows. In late morning to early afternoon, it comes through the window and onto the floor, making a square-shaped pattern in the process. In another hour or so it will be illuminating a corner of the bed and Suki will have moved to there to spend her afternoon hours soaking it up while napping.

Sun Worshipper

Suki has an afternoon routine. She stretches out on a corner of the bed and soaks up the sunlight coming in through a window facing south. She might even get on the floor and lay in the sunlight. In this image, she appears to be placing her arms and paws toward the sun as though engaging in a worshiping ritual.

Please Keep Me, Too!

with one comment

We’ve been going through boxes in the attic and getting rid of stuff that we’ve had for years but no longer need. Truth be told maybe we didn’t need it years ago, but some things tend to get saved because the time isn’t right to part with it.

A couple days ago another couple of boxes made their way down from the attic to my office. Next to them was an empty box that Mary Ann marked “Put stuff to keep in this box.”

It was late afternoon and neither of knew where Suki was. We were talking about something in my office when Mary Ann was surprised to see Suki sacked out in the empty “put stuff to keep” box.

Has a cat ever seen an empty box it didn’t want to get into?

Suki doesn’t often come into my office. But somehow she found the “put stuff to keep box” and made herself at home.

Mary Ann started laughing and went to get her smart phone. The image was too much to resist.

I’m sure it was pure coincidence that Suki got into this box. After all, cats can’t read, right?

Afternoon Sunlight Stripes

leave a comment »

suki-shadows-x

Our cat Suki likes to nap on the corner of the bed closest to a window facing south. In the afternoon  on sunny day, the sunlight streaks through the window, illuminating this corner of the bed.

Suki often finds that sunlight and sacks out for a long nap. The stripes on the bed are caused by the blinds in the window.

I don’t know why Suki is hanging over the edge of the bed. I wouldn’t think that would be comfortable, but cats don’t think the way that I do.

Nothing Like Sitting in a Laundry Basket

leave a comment »

suki-closet-01-x

Our cat Suki likes laundry baskets filled with clothes. Much of the time she likes to get into a basket of clean clothes, but dirty clothes are fine, too.

We made the mistake of leaving a closet door open and it didn’t take Suki long to find the basket of clothes kept there and to stake it out for a long afternoon nap.

She doesn’t seem to pleased to have her picture taken or being disturbed.
