Taking Flight From Fright

There was a steady snow falling as a friend and I were chasing a train. I spotted an open field next to the tracks where a flock of geese were picking through the leftover grain that the harvest didn’t pick up.

The idea was to photograph the geese doing their thing as the train passed in the background as the snow fell. Alas, the noise of the approaching train spooked the birds and they took off before the scene I had in mind could develop.

I had to act quickly to get this image. It’s not quite what I had in mind, but didn’t turn out too bad nonetheless.
